I’m trying to revel in the fact that I get to explore a new-to-me part of the world. New scenery, new people, and tons of new experiences. I also find myself with more time and less stress. It might be because the last six months we were in Virginia were spent preparing to move, selling a house, and having Justin 3000 miles away from us. Oh, and before that I was working. The time I’ve found has been a gift for me to get myself together in many ways and I don’t, not even for one second, forget how lucky I am to have this time…it is a precious gift.
A lot of my time has been spent reading and listening to audiobooks. Here are some I adore…
Eligible – Since I basically love everything about Pride and Prejudice, this book was a no-brainer. After the first few chapters, it turned into an un-put-downable book. It’s charming and smart and will have you turning the pages to find out what happens.
Salt to the Sea – Eva and I are listening to this book in the morning on the way to school. In the last few days, we’ve forced the twins to sit quietly so we can listen to it after school as well because it is so good. I like it so much that I think I’m going to purchase the book and read it and I hardly ever read things more than once! The language is gorgeous and powerful. The story is haunting. The audio version is well done with multiple voices that will engage you for the full eight hours. Fans of historical fiction will devour this one but those simply wanting to gain a greater appreciation for humanity and a sense of history will love it as well.
Another fave(I’ve read twenty books since we moved here which seems like a lot because moving and getting settled has taken up quite a bit of time), was Tell Me Three Things. It’s the perfect book to read at the pool. It’s YA but I’m certain adults will love it too.
Some local things I heart…
Bloedel Reserve – It’s a little treasure hidden a mile from my house. The views are spectacular and the trails are great for exploring.
These three restaurants have fantastic food, beautiful views of Mt. Rainier, and a quirky, fun atmosphere.
Bella Luna -divine pizza says the girl who was born and raised just outside of New York City
Sully’s – fantastic outdoor patio
Agate Pass Cafe – amazing local food
