Day of Lo-o-o-o-ve

When I was growing up in Lynbrook, NY in the 70’s, Valentine’s Day was not a big deal.  My parents didn’t celebrate the day with each other because they were divorced.  I sort of remember decorating shoe boxes and making cards but the cards didn’t have candy or toys attached to them. In middle school and high school Valentine’s Day was a day to get roses from your friends or maybe some guy.  The Student Council used to sell roses leading up to the big day.  They were delivered in homeroom and you had used to wait with sweaty palms … Read more…

Rehab Part II

Demi Moore is headed off to rehab to beat exhaustion. Exhaustion…really?!?!? I am sure most of us feel exhausted sometimes but I am equally sure that’s not why Demi Moore is headed to rehab. When I heard the latest about Demi last night I was feeling sorry for myself since I have an extremely busy week and Justin has another business trip. I’m not sure how he managed to work for Capital One for so long with very few trips and now all of the sudden when we have 4 kids in all kinds of activities and I am working … Read more…

Cartwheels and Mean Girls

I can’t do a cartwheel. I never learned how. It never bothered me. That’s not true. Maybe there was one day in in my playground career that I wished I could do a cartwheel. Actually, I know I wished I could cartwheel down the sand dunes on Long Beach. One of my high school friends did that. Pretty sure he messed up his ACL while he did it so maybe I’m glad that I didn’t accompany him. (In my mind I had taken great pictures of my friend doing cartwheels on the beach but when I went to look through … Read more…

Smelly Cat

Smelly Cat has absolutely nothing to do with this post. Other than the fact that I can’t get it out of my head and keep saying things like Christmas break, Christmas break why are you so early? or – I am about to send an email to a friend that will say Taco night, taco night when will we do it? I hope this is an affliction that doesn’t last the entire two weeks of break. Did I mention I am at home with the kids for TWO whole weeks? I have all kinds of ideas about fun winter/Christmas activities … Read more…

Every girl, every mom

So the other day I was feeling blah. Really blah. The end of the writing marathon has left me in an interesting spot. It seems a deadline is the only thing that makes me work. Now, all of the sudden I find myself with a little bit of time on my hands and I can’t accomplish much. And the lack of achieving something – something towards my big personal goal – makes me feel blah. So while I was standing in the shower feeling really, really blah, I had some ideas. First of all, I thought I would start an … Read more…

I spent way too much time dealing with bathrooms and bathroom issues today

Got up this morning and worked out…same old routine. When I came downstairs to let Coco out I could smell that her tummy problems had not improved. I cleaned out her crate and did a load of doggy laundry with the hottest water possible. Then I returned to the world of Farleys waking up one by one. Ethan is having some tummy problems as well and…I’m going to spare you those details. Gigs wouldn’t get out of bed until I went up and cuddled her which I did while Ethan and Eva fought over the last chocolate chip waffles (frozen … Read more…
