We like the fall as much as the rise

I don’t know if I can write this post without sounding preachy but I’ll try because no one wants to read a preachy post. I was listening to sports radio again today. The announcers were talking about the dominance of teams like the Yankees and the Red Sox and how the air time they get is not fair to the other good and better teams that don’t get as much. I think they were referring to the Texas Rangers not getting as much airtime but they are playing so well. One of the guys said we need the Yankees and … Read more…

Dear Granddaughter

Saturday night is always a good time for a ghost story. So grab a drink and sit back and read my completely fictional tale with only little tidbits of truisms laced throughout. This is the letter I imagined receiving from my dead grandmother. Remember…I wrote to her awhile back. (And please remember this was written 12 years ago.) Dear Granddaughter, You have never been to visit my grave. I am surprised you knew where to send this letter. I don’t blame you. I blame your father. I have been dead for over thirty years and he has only been to … Read more…

Shed my skin

I decided to shed some of my well worn skin today. I decided to live a little outside of my comfy box. I decided to spice up a day that left me at home with the little guys while Justin and Alex jetted up to Boston for a Red Sox game. (THEY LOST!!!) I made Justin take the van to the airport instead of the Jeep. I was determined to drive the three little ones around in it today instead of the boring silver Odyssey. Sometimes it’s the little things in your day that make you feel a little bit … Read more…

My really wet happy place

The pool is my happy place. It might sound like an oxymoron or just plain moronic but with four kids the pool is the only place that I can truly relax. Yes, I said I can relax next to a big whole in the ground that is filled with water. I can leave all my daily chores and electronics behind and enjoy some active outdoor time with my family and I can usually sneak in some quiet Mommy time as well. The kids are on their own from the moment we walk in. They can sign us in, go to … Read more…

Headed to Rehab?

So, I was procrastinating today and instead of putting all the laundry away I snuck a peek at People.com and noticed that Eric Dane, McSteamy, is heading to rehab but will apparently report to work next week on Grey’s Anatomy. The article went on to say that he is addicted to painkillers that were prescribed to him for a sports injury. Just another star heading to the illustrious rehab. In my mind, I imagine the rehab facility has fluffy white beds and big windows that have long gauzey curtains on them. There is probably a bell on the night stand … Read more…

Part II (where things start to get really hot)

I was really looking forward to tonight because Gill and I have not had an opportunity to sit down and talk lately. Of course we’ve talked and texted and seen each other a billion times but none of it was relaxing or for the sole purpose of just being together. A lot of our interaction this week involved our boys, Alex and Giles, who are joined at the hip. You see, Gill and I became friends because of our boys but we are now friends with or without them. We picked up pizza, beer and dessert as we could not … Read more…

Part I (just a hint it’s not as exciting as Part II but it has more pictures)

Today was kind of a dreamy day for me. (Every time I say the word dreamy I think of Marcia Brady talking about Davy Jones.) I didn’t do any chores. Instead I enjoyed family and friends…..all day. And as the day came to an end we came really close to this being one of the worst days of our lives. But first let’s talk dreamy…. I got up around 9 and the twins were still asleep. (That will happen when you keep them up waaaaaaaay past their bedtime the night before!) Justin was already up and had taken Coco for … Read more…

Holding on by a thread

Ahhhh summer vacation….with four kids. I tried to do everything right today but didn’t feel successful. I had signed Eva up for a sewing class – T-Shirt creatures to be exact. We bought all of the supplies and were on our way this morning with her little friend. Eva mentioned in the car that she had already planned what her creature would look like in here head. I was so excited for her. This class was the perfect combination of arts and crafts. When we got there I took the girls in and got them settled and off I went. … Read more…
