Yuck, yuck and yuck

Dear Adam, I am an adoring fan. Quite possibly one of your biggest fans, I mean who else has written a whole series of books about you? As far as I know…no one else! I’ve seen you in concert. I have multiple copies of your Sexiest Man Alive cover sitting on my desk. My kids fear I’ll meet you and never come home. I get texts, emails and phone calls from dozens of people every time you’re on television. Basically, I’m your girl and you’re my guy. Except, I don’t like your new video, Animals. Actually, I hate your new … Read more…

Supermom

For five minutes this morning, I felt like Supermom. I was doing the single mom thing yesterday and today with Justin on a business trip and I don’t think I handle four kids on my own all that well. I find that I need some quiet time during the day with my thoughts to write and think and without it I feel a little cray-cray. So I spoiled myself at Target yesterday with two new books, a pair of boots I’ve been coveting and a late afternoon chai. (Can’t beat boots from Target – especially green boots from Target!) Spoiling … Read more…

I heart…

I haven’t done a list like this since 2012! But I’m kind of obsessed with lists of things people love. I think that’s why I love Pinterest so much. Actually, maybe I haven’t done a list like this lately because I’m constantly pinning things on Pinterest instead. Anyway, here’s a random assortment of things I love at the moment. I love The Lumineers. Their music is perfect for writing, driving in the car and just plain anything. Stubborn Love is the bomb. (Do people still say that?) Best book I’ve read lately that’s actually changed my life – Daring Greatly. … Read more…

Right now

Right now, my brain is as stuffy as my nose. I’m scattered and trying to throw ideas down on paper and finish books and I can’t find my focus. I feel like I’m a kid who has eaten a dozen pieces of Halloween candy. And I am very in touch with children who have eaten too much candy and it’s not even Halloween yet! My head is crowded with “What does a fox say” and it’s seemingly on repeat. Between the re-runs of Duck Dynasty my high schooler watches and the World Series games I am forced to watch, my … Read more…

Dear Adam Levine

Dear Adam Levine, I was at your concert last night. You forgot to sign my t-shirt and pull me up on stage. No biggie, I know, like I really know in my heart, we will meet at a smaller venue at some point. And honestly, I didn’t want to share you with the 25,000 other people that were there. I want to sit and have coffee. We’ll talk. I get the impression you’re a thinker and kind of witty. We’ll talk about life and what it means to be an artist. I know your soul is in your music. Your … Read more…

I might be a little crazy

I’m almost done with book two. Like really super duper close to being finished with it.  But I will tell you what, it is not easy writing a new book and marketing a current book AND taking care of my not-so-little family.  We’re on summer vacation now and I’m not sure where writing well end up fitting into my day.  I know it will be there but I just hope it’s not in the middle of the night. We’ve managed to come up with two slightly offensive but pretty funny marketing ideas thus far.  The first is a picture of … Read more…

Dear Adam,

Dear Adam, You are dreamy. Sometime last summer, I decided you were my guy, that you would be my hall pass. My little crush/obsession has grown in recent months and I have found a legion of friends who feel just as I do. They, too, think you are dreamy. They send me pictures, videos, text messages and emails of you and about you. I get messages when you are on Palladia, Ellen or Elvis Duran. One of my student’s moms sent me your almost naked picture with the little hand sticking up in the perfect spot and I have received … Read more…

I am ridiculous

****This is a confessional piece that I wrote in my writing class this evening.**** I am in love with Adam Levine. I am so in love with him that my almost 9 year old has changed the wallpaper on my phone to his picture. My 13 year old promptly changed my screen saver to “You should love Dad more.” I am so absurd that my friends – Facebook and real life – and my students’ parents alert me to all of his appearances on t.v. They send me pictures of his tattooed abdomen. It’s become a joke and I guess … Read more…

my life…or why i forced myself to dance

I’ve felt a little unglued lately.  I feel like Humpty Dumpty after his great fall.  I answer simple how are you’s with a sigh.  I feel pulled in so many different directions sometimes that I can’t even make a coherent to do list.  Having the twins in elementary school technically gives me more free time but realistically adds a dozen additional items to my daily list.  Of course, they are thriving.  We knew they would right?  Gigs is too busy with all her friends to even sit with Eva on the bus.  Ethan is ready to skip elementary school and … Read more…

If they come knocking

I have three crushes. My kids can rattle them off. They know that if one of these guys asks me out I will say yes. Justin knows too. He’s ok with it. Alex has known since he could speak that Sting is my number 1 crush. (And I cannot believe he was not part of the Opening Ceremonies! Seriously England, he is a bigger asset than Sir Paul!) I could go on and on about Sting and the role he has had in my life but that’s a post for another day. More recently, I have realized that I heart … Read more…
