Peter and Heather do Halloween

Because their relationship moved so quickly, Heather still had many new things to learn about Peter. Somehow he managed to keep his penchant for Halloween bottled up until they were together for slightly less than a year. Had she realized what a maniac he was about the holiday at another point in their relationship, things may have been different. It all started around Labor Day when the first signs of Halloween stores popped up in empty storefronts. Peter took a cursory visit to each store to inspect the new merchandise. The first time Heather and the kids went with him … Read more…

Tripped Up New Year’s Eve

****Only read after The New Ever After.  This contains some indirect spoilers!**** Three years ago, Peter had been in NYC with a date his agent had set him up with. He couldn’t remember her name but he did remember her pout after he refused her invitation to come to her place. He sent her home with his driver and he walked the 32 blocks to his apartment to clear his mind. He remembered, so clearly, the unsettled feeling he had that night. He was about to turn forty and was having a mid-life crisis of sorts. He had thrown himself … Read more…

Touring

Both of my books, Tripped Up Love and The New Ever After, are on tour across the internet. They are visiting different bloggers around the world. In most cases I have written a post for the different bloggers and many have read and reviewed my books. It is a great opportunity for me and for other authors. I am so grateful to the fabulous women who have spent so many hours organizing these tours. Stop by the different sites and show them some love! Tripped Up Love is on tour with Chick Lit Plus. My tour dates are listed on … Read more…

Land of Suburbia

When I moved to Suburbia I felt a lot like Peter did in Tripped Up Love. I was really fearful about what I was getting myself into. I was a city girl. I was born and raised 18 miles east of New York City. Being in the South was an adjustment and then moving to a subdivision was another. We moved here from Chicago and crowded cities afforded me an anonymity the suburbs did not not. But now I am more entrenched in the suburban life than I ever could have imagined. I drank the Kool Aid. I’m still a … Read more…

We’re supposed to be together

Let me set the scene…this is an excerpt from Heather’s memoir about her life with Hank. Part of this is in The New Ever After, but the rest is only right here for your eyes only! Enjoy! ***This is fiction! Even though I used some names from my real life, there is NO TRUTH to this excerpt! It has not been edited either. My editor is probably cringing!*** Hank asked me to the prom as we passed each other on the steps between third and fourth period one day in school. I said no and rolled my eyes at him. … Read more…

Your words

Your words slay me. My book has reached more people than I ever thought possible. It’s left the 2-3-1-1-3 and moved out into the big, big world. And all kinds of eyes are reading it. Most of the eyes have been kind eyes. I’m meeting people who have been touched by some part of the book. I’m meeting other moms, moms who are being given a second chance at happiness like Heather. Moms who connect with the crazy, suburban lifestyle we are all trying to navigate. My heart swells with every thoughtful comment. It is hands down my favorite thing … Read more…

I might be a little crazy

I’m almost done with book two. Like really super duper close to being finished with it.  But I will tell you what, it is not easy writing a new book and marketing a current book AND taking care of my not-so-little family.  We’re on summer vacation now and I’m not sure where writing well end up fitting into my day.  I know it will be there but I just hope it’s not in the middle of the night. We’ve managed to come up with two slightly offensive but pretty funny marketing ideas thus far.  The first is a picture of … Read more…

DIY Numerology

I am obsessed with numbers. Numbers of books sold, numbers of calories consumed, numbers of visitors to my blog, number of heartbeats in a minute…you get the point. Numbers make me tick and make me CRAZY! I am also obsessed with numerology but you already know I am into all things ‘new agey’ like tarot cards and horoscopes. So, the numerology probably isn’t a surprise to you. My book even features some numerology. In fact, if you have read the numerology part you need to know that I fell into that. After I finished writing most of the story, I … Read more…

Throw uppy

All week I’ve been feeling a little throw uppy. People are reading my work. They are interacting with part of my soul. It’s like having your child up on stage and you’re hoping and hoping they don’t mess up. My adrenaline is pumping and I just can’t settle down. I’m forgetting things and acting slightly cray-cray! And I’m not sure why. The feedback has been great. The book has been spotted in the carpool line, soccer practice and at a doctor’s office. But people keeping telling me they feel like I’m the main character. Well, I’m not Heather. There are … Read more…
